We did something this week, we went to Sedona and eloped (full video)!
Rachel and I are a lot of things, traditional is not one of them. About 6 weeks ago we said, “hey want to get married?” (she actually said it) and we both responded “yes”. So within a short period we planned an elopement to Sedona, AZ, a place neither of us have ever visited!
We found a beautiful house on AirBnb, flew into Phoenix and rented a Tesla on Turo (lets see what all the electric hype is all about). We found a minister and photographer online and just needed to make it the courthouse the morning of to get the official license!
Sedona is beautiful, filled with nature and vortexes. We hiked the days before and located the perfect spot on Bell Rock to say our nuptials. We met the minister in a local coffee shop and everything just seemed really easy!
The morning of the wedding temperatures dropped (the natural ones, not ours) and it was suddenly cooler. Rachel had a beautiful short sleeve dress made of thin material while I was rocking the wool suit shipped from India just in time to be altered to perfection. Needless to say, she was cold and I was comfortable outside as the hail dropped and we said “I do.”
There is so much that happened on this trip, we hiked a Narnia like snow scene to Devil’s Bridge, hiked tons of trails, met interesting people on the trail, got our license with 10+ other couples at 8:00 a.m. and of course cemented our commitment. I married Rachel because she is my best friend, she is the kindest soul I have known and spending forever just didn’t seem like long enough. Those feelings never change, but sometimes I have to remind myself that it is not a dream and this reality is one came true.
